 This treatment has been called the safer and healthier alternative to the modern day perms and relaxers that we have now. But with recent studies done with this treatment the results are coming back not so good. In many hair salons people have reported experiencing side effects such as a nose, throat and eye irritation. For someone to experience this just to get perfectly straight hair takes being ridiculous to a new level. Anything that will expose my hair to the embalming fluid Formaldehyde will not be at the top of my list!

Tips and Tricks "Hair Product Review"

    Anytime I hear about a new hair product I’m going to want to try it out and see which one works best for me. Since I have been going to college in Charlotte I have at least six different types of hair products that I have used on my hair. One of the products I would never use again is Pantene’s line of products for different hair types. I guess you could say this was one of the moments where I should have known better.
    Of course I picked up the” Anti-frizz styling crème” from the “Medium-thick hair collection”. The label stated that it would help control hair under humidity and help it be more manageable for straightening, blow drying etc. I bring it back to my apartment and get ready for a treacherous task of washing and blow drying my hair My results were not so pleasing, the scalp of my head would sting and the first time that happened I knew it was time to wash that out! I know what you’re thinking “just get a relaxer or flat iron it”, absolutely not! I don’t get a relaxer done by anyone except my hair stylist I have had since middle school and the second reason why I won’t flat iron my hair is because in the past I used it so much to the point that I'm restricted from using it!
    Products that I would use again: Agadir Argan Oil, Motions Weightless Clear Hairdressing, Pantene oil sheen spray for Women of Color and MIZANI Moisturizing Silkening Liquid Gel for natural looking Curls and Waves.

Since I have been in college it tends to be difficult to keep up with the latest trends and balance school work but, since I'm studying fashion I have to stay on top of what's going on. Tips and Tricks "Hair Vitamins"

I’m sure you all have heard about “hair vitamins” you can take to aid in hair growth and gaining thicker and healthier hair. One vitamin that I take personally is Biotin. It is a vitamin that is good for supporting healthy hair growth, but you can’t just rely on this vitamin alone. Eating the right foods while taking Biotin will give you better results. If you are the type of person that doesn’t like taking pills, a more familiar alternative to getting your daily hair vitamin can be found in some of the foods you can make on campus. A good source of Biotin that can easily be incorporated into an easy meal is whole grain. This is nature’s natural hair vitamin so fix a quick healthy snack like a sandwich and make sure the bread is whole grain. Feeding your hair and pleasing your appetite at the same time, couldn’t get any better than that!

If you pay attention to the latest hair miracles I’m sure you have seen or heard of ones that are different or even seem dangerous. An old hair regimen that people use to use was washing their hair with mayonnaise. The mayonnaise has oils in it that would moisturize the hair but, resulted in your hair; well smelling like Miracle Whip! Argan Oil is just one of many hair products that Black hair salons are using. Other natural healthy products such as Jojoba oil gained popularity in new hair products available main stream, but Argan Oil is exclusive to hair salons, until now with a little help with the Internet. First time for everything!

  Hello everyone! this is my very first time starting a blog and the process is not hard, but requires much thought into how to communicate the right message I want to send to my followers. When I was given the assignment to start a blog I picked a topic that I thought would spark people's attention. Hair has always been apart of African American culture and i love fashion just like other young women. I'm in college and I'm graduating next year, it seems like I just started and I have had a few reflections on the many things that have happened since I have been in college. 

 One problem I find myself running into is the fact that my hair dresser is not just a couple of minutes away anymore. The only time i do see her is when Igo home on holidays or when I have a free weekend, so doing my hair is not the easiest task since it's so thick!  I also love fashion and if I had to choose my favorite item it would have to be jewelery! I wanted to take those two elements and combine them into a site where young college women like me would have somewhere to go to get all the tips and share some of their own experiences too.
